6 Oils for Long and Healthy Hair

I cut my hair over a 6 months ago. I chopped it off to my shoulders which was about 6-7 inches. The reason for my drastic hair change was that my hair was  so damaged. I started dyeing it, which I never thought I would do, and it had a lot of damage from being in a ponytail and from the natural elements. 

So I chopped it off to my shoulders and gave my hair a fresh start. I promised to be more kind to it and that’s what I did. I started using henna dye to cover those pesky grays and I also started using hydrating oils  and Hask Hair Products (read my review here). Now my hair is coming around to it’s full length again and I wanted to share how oils can help promote long and healthy hair.

6 Oils for Long and Healthy Hair

1. Argan Oil

Argan oil is great! It’s not only proven to make hair softer, silkier, and shinier,  it’s also extremely rich in nutrients such as fatty acids and vitamin E. You can also use Argan Oil to tame frizz and give hair shine after styling. This will make your hair more manageable and help repair your hair from any damage during styling.

2. Macadamia Oil

Macadamia oil is a pressed oil from macadamia nuts. It’s high in calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, sodium, and copper. It also contains fatty acids which we all know does amazing things for our hair and skin. Those fatty acids help shine, strengthen and provide nutrients to the hair follicles which prevents hair loss and brittle strands. 

3. Monoi Coconut Oil

Wait there’s another type of coconut oil? Yes! This is like “girl next door” Coconut Oil’s hot and sexy older sister. 😉 This is a combination of Coconut Oil and essence from the Tiara Flowers (soaked with coconut oil). This oil helps heal damaged strands and protects from free radicals with it’s antioxidants. It’s great for helping hair grow longer and stronger and to restore its healthy state. It’s also a great frizz tamer. 

4. Keratin Oil

Why does hair break? Because it’s lacking natural proteins which happen to have keratin in them. Think of it as a muscle. No protein. No muscle. No strength. So give your hair some protein with this oil to give it strength and shine

5. Bamboo Oil

Bamboo Oil  contains biotin and collagen, which helps reinforce and prevent split ends, leaving stronger, healthier looking hair. It also helps remove pollutants, body oils and chemicals on the hair as well as add shine. Ditch that greasy residue product and snag up some Bamboo Oil.

6. Kalahari Oil

Found in the African desert, kalahari melon oil is known to thrive and retain moisture in the driest conditions. This  another oil that is abundant in fatty acids leaving your stronger and shinier. 

FUN FACT: Kalahari Oil is popular among expectant mother to restore skin elasticity and is used as belly balms.

I love oils to maintain my newly healthy hair and to also protect it and restore it from damage. I’m growing it out long now and it’s because it’s no longer unmanageable and unhealthy.
