How to Keep Your Brain Happy and Healthy in Your 30s

Let’s face it, we’re not getting any younger. Aging doesn’t have to be a bad or scary thing, but a graceful one if you know how to take of your body.

Most articles I’ve read on popular sites talk about anti-aging beauty products, exercises to keep you looking young, or diets to give you youthful skin. While all of this is great, I feel there is a lack of emphasis on your body internally when it comes to aging.

On top of exercise and eating healthy, I also do other things to keep my mind healthy and happy.

STIMULATE THE BRAIN

This can be done in so many ways but one of my favorite ways to exercise my brain is by puzzles. Sudoku is probably one of my favorite things to do when I’m sitting around or on a plane traveling. It gets your brain into problem solving mode and is a great stimulant.

You can also try other puzzles like crosswords and word games or an app like Luminosity.

MEDITATE WEEKLY

I have to admit, I’m not a meditation guru but I do like to meditate a couple times a week for about 10 mins. I do it to relax and clear my head but it also has a ton of brain benefits.

Meditating just a couple of minutes a day can reduce anxiety and depression, improves concentration, and according to this study, it can act as a anti aging mechanism.

If you don’t know where to start there are so many books and apps to help you. I use Headspace a lot if I don’t know where to start with my meditations.

 

 

So even though aging is inevitable, it doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care of yourself. Remember that everything you do has some effect on your body so it’s important to be mindful in how you treat it.
