May 2017 Income Report

May 2017 Blog Income and Traffic ReportMay 2017 Income and Traffic Report

It’s almost summer ya’ll! Can you believe it? Time is always getting away from me and before I know it, it’s almost the end of the month. May was another busy month for me and I feel like I didn’t have a weekend to just chillax and blog. As you know I work full-time, so weekend are very precious blogging time for me. I may not have much of a social life right now but my side hustle seems to be paying off quite a bit.

You can read my last Income Report here.

This month my blog income increased by 9%. I have a lot of ideas I’ve been brainstorming for the blog and hopefully this summer full of some fun, creative, and helpful post. I have such a long list of blog post ideas, I just have to sit down and write them out. So what did this month look like? Let’s jump in.

Total: $714.67

Start your own blog in less than 10 mins with this post.

  • Adobe – $29.99: I use this to edit my pictures (lightroom), create graphics (photoshop), and I’m learning more about how to use Illustrator. They also offer a student discount. 🙂

Total: $29.99

  • Facebook – 343 (+.6%)
  • Instagram – 10345 (-.6%)–>I have so many follow/unfollowers and I expect this number to decrease more.
  • Pinterest – 1619 (+3%)
  • Twitter – 937 (+.6%)

Since I posted DIY One Year Anniversary Book my traffic from Pinterest grew like crazy. My top post have been DIY’s and “Top Essentials” posts like this one. Looking into my top posts, I need to use this as an insight to what my readers and those coming to my blog like to see. Being a lifestyle blogger it’s sometimes hard to pinpoint what topics to blog about but I think Google Analytics really helps with this. How do you look into what your readers like? I’m always open to suggestions. 🙂

Goals from last income report (revisited)

  • 2 blog posts a week–>Again I didn’t quite do this. 6 blog posts total for May and they were all over the place. Do you have a blog planner you use? How do you keep consistent?
  • Create a blog schedule.–>Started a bullet journal but didn’t get around to creating a blog schedule.
  • Make a list of old posts to redo and schedule them in planner.–>Made the list but haven’t scheduled them in my journal.
  • Save $400–>I saved this through ebates, saving money from each paycheck and selling on Poshmark (use my code NCQMO to get $5 off your first purchase).
  • Complete at least 4 workouts a week. –>Finally got back at this. I started BBG this week through the SWEAT with Kayla app. Have you guys used it before? I’m really liking it. I love ToneItUp but the workouts are so long and I don’t feel like it’s tough enough. With BBG I’m sweating my booty off and definitely feel it the next day.

June Goals

  • 2 blog posts a week.
  • Create a blog schedule.
  • Schedule posts for the month in my bullet journal.
  • Save $300 ($150/paycheck)
  • Workout 6X/week and meal prep on Sundays.
  • Create some blogging printables for July.

What goals do you have for June? (Personal, health, or blogging)

How did your blog traffic do last month?

What are some thing that worked for you in May?

These are always so interesting to read! I recently discovered the magic of Pinterest too haha, it really is difficult figuring out what people want to see – for me, I’ve found that it’s Instagram guides or tips!

I think it’s awesome that your income increased 9% from last month, that is substantial. Good luck with your goals for the month of June <3

  4. June 9, 2017 / 9:05 PM

I love these types of posts! One of my goals is to read 7 books in June. I use a google spreadsheet to track my posts and it helps keep me consistent!

  5. June 10, 2017 / 1:21 AM

As a new blogger, posts like this are so helpful. Thank you for sharing what is so often unspoken in the blogging world!

Love the way you broke this down! And I totally get the IG thing… I’ve been trying to keep my IG followers to stay hahaha

  8. June 10, 2017 / 5:21 PM

Pinterest is the one thing that really, really works for my blog, too! 🙂 It seriously is the best source of traffic. Congrats on your income this month–you’re killing the affiliates! I’m trying to get Amazon to work for me but it just doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Ugh. Any tips?

  9. June 11, 2017 / 6:12 AM

Thanks for sharing your goals and your income from May! I love posts like these and sharing your goals with others always keeps you accountable! I am also struggling with increasing my Instagram follower count this past month, so many stinkin follow/unfollows…I truly hate that game!! But the other social media accounts are growing, so that’s a plus 🙂

I have been thinking about trying BBG but just haven’t gotten around to committing to it! I’m a ToneItUp kinda girl but I agree, sometimes those workouts are just too long!

Good luck with your goals for June 🙂

I always find it so interesting when bloggers learn their #1 social media channel is pinterest. we always think facebook, instagram..but pinterest is like a little hidden weapon. as always, love reading your goals & if you have/haven’t met them, and your honesty throughout these round-ups. it’s great motivation for your fellow bloggers & readers! x, nicole // http://www.nicoleeigh.com

This is awesome and very impressive! Sounds like you are doing great wiht your blog!

  12. June 12, 2017 / 8:17 AM

I definitely prefer the 28 minute workouts from BBG more than 45 minutes + from TIU. Sorry, I have a full time job and can’t give that much time every day! Glad to see you accomplished so many of your goals!

  13. June 12, 2017 / 11:29 AM

Ah, this is helpful! Thank you for sharing!

  14. June 12, 2017 / 2:18 PM

I don’t have any income sources set up through my blog yet but it’s interesting to see other people’s google analytics. I need a few more BIG blog posts to pull in more traffic. A month or two later, people stop clicking most articles in the restaurant review world it seems…

For scheduling, I use my google calendar for everything – gym workouts, food and social events, and I’ve recently added ‘scheduled’ blog posts in an attempt to set some goals. Some did move out but I did a lot of catchup work this weekend so hope it works out for the rest of June! Color coding helps me haha!

  15. June 13, 2017 / 9:42 AM

Great job! Hope you hit your June goals. I struggle fitting it all in- I aim to workout 4 days a week and meal plan on Sundays and crash and burn on that most weeks.

  16. June 13, 2017 / 7:18 PM

Thanks for sharing this!! I love how open you are about your blog, and it definitely helps me get an idea of how other bloggers are doing it! I am kinda new to the blogging world so this was a great read!

  17. June 15, 2017 / 12:18 PM

Great job! I love reading posts like this, it always reminds me of what I should be focusing on and doing… or not doing 😛 I will give you some major kudos if you hit the workout 6x per week– I just started working out again and even trying to get it 3x a week has been challenging– get it!!

  18. June 16, 2017 / 7:56 AM

I need to be better about tracking my growth! Definitely going to take some snaps at the end of the month to create a baseline after reading this post 🙂 Congrats to you for such an awesome month!

I love reading these reports! I’m a new blogger and I’m hoping to one day this year to make enough money blogging that I don’t have to work anymore during school. I want to be my own boss! Any tips or advice you could give would be amazing?
