I love chili all year round. Many will argue that it’s a “fall/winter” food but I’m not one to follow food rules. 🙂
Cooking has become something I’ve grown to love. I feel satisfied when I make something my family raves about. I think “Oh yeah. I made that! Whoot whoot. Go me, go me!” and I get a happy feeling inside.
I love finding new ways and things to make the prep easier when cooking. Whether it be a vegetable chopper to alleviate the pain from chopping onions, a flexible cutting board that I can bend and send my ingredients flying into the pot (yes I’m that lazy sometimes), or finding products like Pop & Cook that do the work for me! Yes!
Pop & Cook will make your prepping 100% easier because they do the work for you! They make crushed garlic, chopped cilantro, sautéed glazed onions, and other herbs that are prepped for you.
For this recipe I used the crushed garlic & chopped cilantro and it saved me so much time. I don’t know about you but for me mincing garlic is such a tedious task and quickly adds up time to my prep. Especially if you have to do more than 1 clove! Forget about it (in my Italian accent)!
With Pop & Cook garlic you literally pop out and cook! It’s as simple as that. I just popped out 2 cubes (2 cloves) into my pot until it melted.
I planned on using the Pop & Cook Glazed Onions for this recipe because I mean who doesn’t want to skip chopping onions? But sadly they ran out at my local Walmart. I think people are catching on to this.
Now that you my little secret to pretty much skipping out on prep, let me introduce my boyfriend and 12-year-old approved Turkey & Bean Chili recipe! You will wow yourself and your family with this one. ????
Turkey & Bean Chili
1 tbsp, chili powder
2 tsps, garlic powder
1/2 tsp(s), salt
1 tsp, cumin
1 tbsp, turmeric
1 tsp, olive oil
1 cup water or vegetable broth
2 cubes, Pop & Cook Crushed Garlic
2 cubes, Pop & Cook Chopped Cilantro
1 lb., ground turkey
2 jalapeños
1 can, black beans (drained)
1 can, kidney beans (drained)
1 can, diced tomatoes
Before you get to cookin’, you’ll want to pick up all your ingredients at your local Walmart. Pop & Cook garlic & cilantro can be found easily in the stores frozen vegetable section. Learn more here.
I was already picking up some things up for my work salads so I thought I would snag a couple of these Pop & Cooks too! As you can see that empty spot next to the cilantro is where the onion should be ????. It was so sad when I saw they were sold out…they didn’t even have them in the back.
1. Heat olive oil, onion, Pop & Cook garlic, and jalapeños over medium heat. Stir until onions become translucent. Next time I’m going to add another jalapeño because I like my stuff spicy.
2. Add your turkey and use a spatula or wooden spoon to break it up into small pieces. Cook until brown.
3. Add all your drained beans, diced tomatoes, spices, and water or vegetable broth. Bring chili to a bowl and then bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 25 mins.
4. For the last couple of minutes add your Pop & Cook cilantro cubes and stir.
5. Serve & enjoy. You can top this with sour cream, cheese or any other toppings. I prefer to have it as is.
This yummy turkey & bean chili is so easy to make and also perfect for meal prep if you’re rollin’ solo or just wanting something easy to prep for the week. This recipe makes 4 servings and is under 400 calories and packed with 41 grams of protein! It also gives you 60% of your daily dietary fiber.
Let me know if you try it because I want to hear how much you and your family liked it. It’s darn good and you’ll be thanking me later. 😉
Ooh this looks delicious! That pop product sounds fantastic too! I feel like I always waste onions because I don’t use the whole thing!
