5 Ways To Be More Confident

prAna Cozy Up Sweatshirt Cardiff CollectionBeing a confident person has never come naturally to me until recently. I’ve always had to make a conscious effort to be confident. Why?

Well it had a lot to do with being picked on in elementary school (6th grade to be exact) and being called names because I was skinny and had a big nose. Both which weren’t true but I was just in that awkward stage of growing into my body.

Then I grew up and became a beautiful woman and my confidence radiated. I started dating and meeting new people while I was in the navy. Everything was going great…until my fiance at the time broke up with me and then started dating someone almost immediately after. I was crushed and so was my confidence.

Then I was on a roll, I had toxic relationships after toxic relationships until every ounce of my self was sucked dry and I didn’t even know who I was anymore. I had no self-confidence but self-doubt I was good at maintaining.

It’s pretty crazy how relationships can change that! One person walks into your life, quickly becomes the best thing that ever happened to you and then just as fast, becomes the worst.

Well I finally said screw that and was ready to get myself back and discover who I was again as a person. I didn’t want to be defined by negative thinking and words of others. So I changed it!

Whether you’ve had toxic relationship with men (or women) that didn’t appreciate you, were picked on as a child, or even verbally abused by family members, there is still things that you can do to find your self-confidence again. It’s not a lost cause! I am now more confident than ever and have pushed myself to be a more confident and better person.

It’s true what they say, “you’re never fully dressed without a smile.” I get it, some days are harder than others. Especially if you’re going through some shit. But if you just try to smile through the funk, you will more than likely get a smile back and in return feel better.

This one is so hard to do in this social media driven generation. There are SO MANY people to compare ourselves to. I’m guilty of comparing myself to other bloggers and other women who are amazingly fit and the same age as me. We need to stop comparing ourselves. When I find myself doing this I got back to NO. 1. I recognize that these are negative thoughts and I then tell myself something positive.

This sounds a little cliché but it’s true. When you actively are kind to others it makes you feel like a good person. Say hi to people, hold doors, or offer help. These small acts of kindness really help build your self-image and confidence.

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

5 ways to be more confident.

Having a cute and comfortable outfit on always makes me feel more confident. This could be a basic outfit or something more dressed up. Wear what makes you feel good. When you feel good about your appearance, you’re most often feeling comfortable in your own skin, which shines as confidence.

I love choosing outfits that make me feel good but are also sustainable like prAna. It feels good to know that my prAna clothing is respecting mother nature and the people who farm and make the clothes.

Right now i’m obsessed with there Cardiff Fleece Collection. The pieces are not only versatile but super soft and warm. The Cozy Up T-Shirt and Sweatshirt are my new favorite staples this fall.prAna Cardiff Fleece Collection Hemp

They are made out of a hemp blend (55% Hemp / 35% Recycled Polyester / 10% Lenzing Tencel ® Lyocell) which is sustainable and oh so soft. Also, they come with UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) so you can keep your body safe from harmful rays when enjoying the outdoors.

One thing, endorphins! This hormone not only suppresses pain but gives you good feelings after too. This is my go to when I feel crappy. I get a good workout in and my whole mood changes. It also reduces anxiety (which I have), reduces stress, and boost self-esteem. So go take a hike and get the heart pumping. 🙂

I hope these tips help you to be more confident and comfortable in your own skin. If you have any tips I would love to hear them in the comments below.
